Todd Chrisley wishes nothing but the best for Julie Chrisley.
That's why the Chrisley Knows Best alum—who is currently serving time on fraud and tax evasion charges—cried "happy tears" when he learned that his wife's seven-year prison sentence was recently overturned, according to their daughter Savannah Chrisley.
"That's the only thing he cares about right now," she shared on the July 2 episode of Unlocked, "is getting her home."
In fact, Savannah said her dad is "fine" that his own 10-year prison sentence was upheld in the latest appeal.
“Mom obviously was heartbroken for dad," the 26-year-old shared, "but hopefully she can come home and then she can go visit him—and that will be a game changer for his overall mental health and well-being, and for hers too."
For now, the family is awaiting Julie's resentencing after an appeals court found that there was insufficient evidence in her and Todd's bank fraud case to show she had been involved in the scheme when it first began in 2006.
Ruling that the judge in the couple's 2022 trial had miscalculated the length of Julie's prison term, the appeals court vacated in her sentence last month and handed the case down to a lower court to determine her resetencing.
“Now we sit and wait, hopefully, no more than 90 days to go for that hearing,” Savannah said on her podcast, noting that Julie's new sentence will be "a really big deal."
She added, “I'm making it my goal that by Thanksgiving, she's home."
Todd, 55, and Julie, 51, were found guilty on charges of wire fraud, conspiracy to commit bank fraud and conspiracy to defraud the United States in June 2022. They reported to prison in January 2023.
In a recent statement to E! News, the Chrisleys' counsel said they were "pleased that the Court agreed that Julie's sentence was improper, but we're obviously disappointed that it rejected Todd's appeal."
"With this step behind us, we can now challenge the couple's convictions based on the illegal search that started the case," the statement continued, appearing to refer to the misconduct case the couple settled earlier this year. "The family appreciates the continued support they've received throughout this process. And they're hopeful for more good news in the future."
